Nottingham medical firms are being urged to find out more about
a market valued at over £16bn, at the Brazil Life Sciences
Seminar in Nottingham on Thursday 11 November at the Gateway
Hotel.
UK Trade & Investment is running the free special seminar to
give UK companies the chance to discover the potential business
opportunities of the life sciences sector (biotechnology, medical
technology and pharmaceuticals) in the Brazilian market.
The UK has the strongest Life Sciences sector in Europe,
employing 140,000 people with a turnover of £30
billion.
Peter Hogarth, UK Trade & Investment Director in the East
Midlands said:
"Brazil is the world's seventh largest consumer market.
They have the largest healthcare market in Latin America,
over 7,000 hospitals and 280,000 doctors, over 350 biotechnology
companies and 50,000 pharmacies. So there are huge opportunities
for life science companies, and the UK industry is internationally
recognized as a world leader. These pioneering Nottingham firms
could be helping to save lives and improve the quality of life for
Brazilian people.
Nottingham companies will be able to hear some general
information about the Brazilian market, detail about the Brazilian
regulatory framework, more information about sector opportunities
in Brazil and details of the Hospitalar 2010 tradeshow.
UK Trade & Investment, the UK Government's international
business development body, has a network of life science
specialists across the globe.
In 2008/09 UK Trade & Investment East Midlands helped more
than 2,500 companies.
UKTI's advisers can help UK businesses to decide if they are
ready for export, investigate markets for them, find potential
business partners, provide grants for firms to go overseas and
support businesses once they are there.
