Challenge teams, SummITT and Team ClimbITT"
Sixteen employees from ITT Water and Wastewater in Colwick put
themselves to the ultimate test to tackle the 6 Peaks Challenge and
raised over £6,000 for WaterAid.
ITT WWW's two teams, Team SummITT and Team ClimbITT, climbed the
six highest peaks in each region of the British Isles. The teams,
led by Andrew Barry and Chris Stewart walked 50 miles, climbed
20,000 feet, drove over 1,000 miles and took two ferry crossings
from the Isle of Man to Heysham and from Stranraer to Belfast, all
in 72 hours.
The ITT WWW troops trained for the challenge by visiting their
local gyms, getting together for training walks in the Peak
District and by scaling Mount Snowdon and Ben Nevis. They raised
the money with the support of friends, family, colleagues,
customers and suppliers, and through a range of activities
including monthly dress down days, sponsored car washes and a
"bring and buy" sale at the ITT WWW head office in Colwick.
Andrew Barry, Market Development Manager for ITT WWW was the
organiser and team leader of the challenge. He said: "Despite
living on top of each other 24 hours a day for almost a week, the
challenge wouldn't have been possible without the camaraderie
between every team member. We pulled each other through food and
sleep deprivation, as well as the aches and pains. Getting
sponsorship for the challenge was tough so taking part in
fundraising activities really helped and we have even set up an
ongoing book, CD and DVD sale in our ITT WWW café. I would
like to say a big thanks to everyone who helped us to raise such a
substantial amount of money for WaterAid.
"Specialising in the treatment of water and wastewater, ITT WWW
understand the importance of having access to clean and safe water
and we are happy we could offer our support to such a worthwhile
cause."
The 6 Peaks Challenge raises money for WaterAid, which works to
provide safe water to the world's poorest people. For more
