Organisers of a charity ball to be held in the county next month
have promised an evening of 'Magic and Mystery'.
The NSPCC Shropshire Business Group is hosting a Grand Yule Ball
in the atmospheric surroundings of Ellesmere College in north
Shropshire on Saturday 20th November.
Ball gowns and broomsticks for the ladies, with black tie or
wizard costumes for the gentlemen, will form the style of dress for
a spellbinding evening.
The group has already raised over £8,000 for the NSPCC so
far this year but hopes to greatly increase this amount with money
raised by the event, with help and hospitality on the night being
provided by the college students.
Funds raised will help the NSPCC support children and young
people across the UK including Shropshire where the Children's
Advocacy Representation Service provides assistance to children who
are looked after by the local authority. They provide a voice
for children and make sure that their wishes, feelings and views
are heard, and form part of the plans that adults are making about
their lives.
Joint organiser Kathryn Holloway said: "We are working hard to
make this a really enchanting evening - we will have a cocktail
reception, entertainment from both Ellesmere College staff and
pupils and a live band, together with a few surprises!
"The corridors and impressive hall will be decked out in the
theme of a well known film set - coincidentally following the
release of the latest block-busting Harry Potter movie the very
same week!
"We have already had over 100 requests for tickets and a further
60 are still available, but they are going fast!"
The event is also being sponsored by several local businesses,
including Hatfield Jaguar of Shrewsbury, Wenlock Spring Water and
Darwin ITC.
Tickets are available by calling 01743 240968.
