A Midlands law firm helped to build bridges within the
construction community with its seventh annual construction
conference.
'Constructing the Future' was organised by Leamington-based
Wright Hassall and took place at the company's Olympus Avenue
offices.
The event aimed to bring together people from all corners of the
industry to discuss the issues facing them, calling on notable
speakers such as Bob Wilson from Warwick University, John Healy
from Northcroft Construction Consultants, Patrick Nagle of
Freyssinet and Vaughan Burnand, immediate past chairman of
Constructing Excellence.
And Philip Harris, partner and head of Wright Hassall's
construction team, was pleased with the results.
He said: "Everything went really well and it was a good day
overall.
"A total of 61 people, from a variety of different firms and
organisations attended and the feedback has been very good.
"It is important that Wright Hassall is at the forefront of
events like this because it demonstrates that we are part of the
construction community at every level, from the professionals to
the sub-contractors.
"What we aim to do is base the conference around a central,
topical theme and to build around that and examine it from every
angle.
"This time the theme was best practice when it comes to getting
- and giving - work so we had speakers commenting on areas such as,
what makes a good contractor, how to diversify and remain versatile
and the changes within the industry.
"Everybody in attendance agreed it was a worthwhile exercise and
that is due in part to the quality and variety of speakers we
attracted."
