Staff at Sunrise Medical have raised over £2127 in support
of Chris Westwood Charity for Children with Physical Disabilities.
The Company were delighted to beat their target of £2000 in
their first year of support for the Charity.
They raised the money from a variety of activities, which saw
some staff members tackling a sponsored 5 mile assault course -
known as "The BEAST", and holding a raffle for prizes such as a hot
air balloon ride and an extra day's holiday (which proved very
popular)!
The Chris Westwood Charity is entering its eighth year of
providing support to physically handicapped children in the local
area. Typical support includes providing special equipment to the
children to improve their quality of life and enable them to
regain/maintain a measure of mobility. For example, earlier this
year a grant was made to a young girl whose severe disabilities
mean that she has no mobility or ability to stand. The grant
enabled the purchase of a special bed which would reduce or delay
even further disability and generally make her life much more
comfortable.
The charity's founder, Chris Westwood, goes on to explain "the
level of activity more than doubled in 2009 and has continued to
increase since. Inevitably, fundraising for ever increasing demands
becomes difficult, which is why we are so pleased to receive this
generous gift from Sunrise Medical. The funds are urgently needed
and we can only thank the Sunrise Medical associates for all their
hard work, kindness and generosity during the year. We are a local
charity, helping local children and support from the local
community is vital to us. We are also proud of the fact that we
have continued to operate for another year with no administration
costs charged to the Charity, so that every penny raised is used
for the purpose the donors intended."
Martyn Morgan, Senior Partner of Talbots Solicitors, and one of
the Charity trustees, added "The Charity has run several similar
initiatives with other local organisations, sporting clubs etc.,
who have nominated the Charity as chosen beneficiary. The
initiative enables members and employees to assist in giving
something back to their Community and we welcome contact from any
other organisation who wishes to help those in need".
