Back to work specialists from Leicester have helped renovate
sections of a city park as part of a charity day.
The experts from Working Links, which delivers government
programmes to help unemployed people get back to work in the city,
joined forces with Leicester City Council's parks team to get Abbey
Park into shape.
The team restored and painted park benches in one of the park's
three Victorian pavilions, litter picked across the park, edged the
lawns and cleaned up the flower beds.
As part of the tenth anniversary of Working Links, all its
2,000-strong staff are to give up a day of work to volunteer for
charity - known as a Rainbow Day.
Ann Gambles, Performance Manager at Working Links, said: "We are
a big community-focused organisation so we were delighted to help
spruce up the gardens in Abbey Park."
Over the last ten years, Working Links has helped more than
12,000 people across the Midlands find work.
