The Ladies' Driving Challenge 2010 was today handed a boost with
a £3,100 donation from Harvey Ingram's team of female
fund-raisers.
They were among scores of female motorists challenged to drive a
range of vehicles including a fire engine, various trucks and
tractors around a five-mile circuit at Bruntingthorpe Proving
Ground, near Lutterworth. They tackled the site's fabulous
purpose-built, off-road course in a 4x4 vehicle.
Organisers estimate around £20,000 will be raised in total
from the event. The cash will be split equally between the British
Red Cross and the Fire Fighters' Charity.
British Red Cross senior community fund-raiser Mary Morgan said:
"I am delighted with the firm's donation of more than £3,000.
It typifies the determination and commitment of its fund-raisers to
consistently better themselves every year.
"Harvey Ingram regularly participates and can be relied upon to
generate the largest entry of any one business. As usual its
fund-raisers have set a benchmark for others to follow."
The British Red Cross is currently involved in almost every
community in the UK and overseas, responding to fires and floods,
as well as providing first aid and training for thousands of
people. The Fire Fighters' Charity supports the thousands of
British fire fighters who put their lives on the line for the
public every year.
Harvey Ingram team organiser Paula Fowle said: "The challenge
this year was to try to top the £2,200 raised in 2009, which
looked pretty daunting at the outset - particularly given the tough
economic times we all face. But fund-raisers, well-wishers, clients
and supporters rallied behind this year's effort and did a superb
job in swelling the coffers. I'd like to say a big thank you to all
concerned."
