HR professionals, directors and business owners from across the
region were brought up-to-speed with changes to employment
legislation at the latest meeting of HR Exchange, the city's
dedicated HR networking group.
The event, which took place at The Gateway Centre at Derbyshire
County Cricket Club, focused on The Equality Act 2010, which came
into force on 1st October. Employment solicitor Sian Williams
updated delegates on recent changes to the Act and the potential
implications for local businesses.
In addition to the legal and employment topics covered at the
event, guests were also able to ask questions about specific issues
of interest to them and network with their peers.
HR Exchange is an informal networking group that brings together
people who are responsible for HR and provides a platform for them
to discuss topical HR issues. At each event a guest speaker
presents on a relevant HR 'hot topic' and gives an insight into how
they have approached a particular HR situation within their
organisations.
The group was launched earlier this year at a special event
attended by Kavita Oberoi, founder and managing director of Oberoi
Consulting and investor in Octavian Security, which employs more
than 700 staff.
Commenting on the latest HR Exchange event, Ciara Millar, vice
chair of HR Exchange, said:

Ruth Badger, star of BBC TV's 'The Apprentice' will be guest
speaker at the next HR Exchange event, which is taking place at
Pride Park Stadium on Thursday 16 December.
