Derby law firm Flint Bishop LLP has announced the appointment of
four new trainee solicitors - bucking the current trend in the
legal sector of postponing or scrapping training schemes due to
difficulties in the economy.
More than 750 graduates applied for the four vacancies and 12
candidates made the final shortlist.
Tayyab Majeed (24), an Economics and Law graduate from the
University of Leicester and Wing Wu (26), who studied Law at
Sheffield University have been placed in the firm's commercial
dispute resolution division. Amrita Sidhu (25), a Law graduate from
Birmingham University has joined the personal injury team, whilst
Amrit Hunjin (24), a Law graduate of Nottingham University joins
the award-winning commercial property division. The placements will
last for two years.
Commenting on the firm's decision to maintain its trainee
programme, Ken Dixon, managing partner at Flint Bishop, said:
"Many law firms are looking to make savings at the moment and a
significant number have reduced or even postponed their solicitors'
training schemes, which has resulted in an increase in the number
of trainees looking for placements. "
"As we continue to plan for the future I feel it is vital that
we maintain our trainee intakes at normal levels and continue to
offer training and development that is second-to-none.
"This year's candidates were of an exceptionally high standard
and I would like to welcome Tayyab, Wing Wu, Amrita and Amrit to
the team," added Ken.
