Expansion planned for Lincolnshire based engineering firm

A Lincolnshire engineering company is proving not all businesses are struggling in the downturn by investing in an expansion of its site.

The development will extend the size of Destec Engineering's main factory complex from 861 square feet to 1,161 square feet.

Destec Engineering, based in Washingborough on the outskirts of Lincoln, is an innovative engineering company which has been manufacturing high-pressure containment equipment and portable machine tools and delivering specialist on-site machining services worldwide from the heart of Lincolnshire for over 40 years.

The company, which has an international customer base spanning the globe, has developed an excellent reputation for manufacturing high-quality robust products for the oil, chemical and marine industries.

While many businesses have struggled to stay afloat since the economic downturn Destec Engineering is flourishing - expanding not only its workforce but also the size of its factory in Lincolnshire.

With demand for its products on the increase the firm has outgrown its current working space, so extending the existing premises seemed the only option, as Sales and Marketing Manager Alistair Chadwick explained:

"Over the past 40 years Destec Engineering has built up an enviable reputation for producing some of the best engineering products around," he said.

"As well as coping with the ever-increasing demand, we also have our sights set on the potentially lucrative South American and African markets, which are rapidly emerging as key players in the future of oil and gas production.

"We also have exciting plans to move into the recycling sector in response to local government's need to find alternative solutions to disposing waste in landfill.

"To enable us to respond to this we needed to not only increase our workforce but also enlarge our premises.

" I am happy to report that building work is on schedule and we plan to open the new factory in December 2010."

The company, which was formed in 1969 by the current Managing Director Barry Porter, now has a wide and versatile range of in-house designed and manufactured portable machine tools that can undertake most machine operations on-site on a worldwide basis.

Full traceability of all materials and conformance with exacting standards are ensured by a system operated by a team of dedicated personnel backed up with the very latest in high-technology equipment.
