The drpgroup in conjunction with the Sainsbury's events team
have delivered their annual conference for 2010, held at the
Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre with 4,500 delegates in
attendance. The event was held in mid-September with Sainsbury's
colleagues from across the UK. Delegates enjoyed presentations and
inspiring video content on a huge 90 metre projection screen and a
totally interactive experiential aspect to the day in the form of
the Sainsbury's Enchanted Christmas and the Sainsbury's Proud
room.
Working closely with the Sainsbury's internal communications
team, the drpgroup helped deliver presentation design, delegate
communications, event management, inspiring video content and
managed the delivery of all aspects of the event. The 90 metre
multi screen projection system gave delegates a jaw dropping start
to the day as video content filled the entire screen. Every
presentation had 3D graphics designed by drpdigitalmedia, ensuring
engaging content throughout the day.
The Sainsbury's Enchanted Christmas and Proud Room allowed
delegates to sample products from the upcoming Christmas lines and
learn about the difference Sainsbury's has made within their local
communities, including environmental initiatives and the Paralympic
Games sponsorship. The drp technical services team, the drpprint
team and the digital media team worked together with Sainsbury's to
deliver the Sainsbury's Proud room where delegates could interact
with engaging displays, digital games and even take part in a game
of wheelchair basketball as part of Sainsbury's Paralympic
sponsorship.
Delegates returned to the main hall in the afternoon for more
video infused presentation content and the culmination of the
Sainsbury's Big Cook Off competition featuring seven finalists who
successful competed against over 600 applicants to win their place
at the final. Finalists from across Sainsbury's cooked in the live
final on stage with Lorraine Kelly and Ainsley Harriott presenting
and judging the contestants' dishes. The finale of the day was the
Sainsbury's Stars awards, a spectacular ceremony recognising and
rewarding Sainsbury's colleagues who had gone above and beyond the
call of duty across the nation. The awards were presented once
again by Lorraine Kelly and were complimented with stage
pyrotechnics and moving video content once again keeping the
audience totally engaged and ready to cascade what they had learnt
back to their colleagues across the nation.
drpgroup managing director Dale Parmenter commented:
"Sainsbury's has always been committed to engaging their colleagues
and this year, with the use of some state-of-the-art technology
such as the 90 metre multi-projection screen, live interactive
voting pads and HD video content, we have worked hand in hand with
the Sainsbury's events team to deliver a totally moving and
interactive experience for delegates."
Jacki Connor, Sainsbury's Colleague Engagement Director, added:
"This is our biggest engagement event of the year and colleague
feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. The key for us is to
engage and motivate 4,500 colleagues who come along to share the
messages they've heard with their colleagues back in store, depot
or office. That way we effectively engage 150,000 colleagues in our
business and that makes a huge difference to us."
