Challenge
The drpgroup has realised its challenge to complete 30 Corporate
Social Responsibility (CSR) projects in its 30th anniversary
year.
The business has also managed to implement 30 environmental
improvements to its activities, benefiting both the company and the
clients it works with. The drpgroup launched 30 separate challenges
of each kind at the beginning of 2010 with the 30 CSR projects and
30 environmental improvements the driving force behind the whole
30th anniversary initiative. The aim was to complete all the '30s'
by January 2011, but the team have delivered on the challenges with
months to spare.
The 30 CSR projects were completed following the sponsorship of
and participation in the annual Springboard Awards for Excellence
due to take place this November. Throughout the year the drpvideo
team has slept rough to raise awareness of homelessness for the
YMCA, the drptechnicalservices team raised £4,000 for
Macmillan Cancer Support by climbing the three highest peaks in the
UK in 24 hours, the drpevents team held an Easter event for the
Wyre Forrest Day Opportunities charity and the drpdigitalmedia team
hosted a day of fun and activities for children with complex
learning needs at the Wyre Forest Go Ape facility.
The 30 environmental improvements included a number of
energy-saving measures as well as initiatives to reduce the carbon
footprint of projects undertaken for clients. A whole new energy
management system was implemented at both the group's London and
Hartlebury offices as well as comprehensive recycling schemes,
capable of recycling not just paper material, but plastics, metals,
vinyl and the large-scale electronic production equipment the
group uses on a regular basis.
Working with consultancy Eco Events, the group has achieved
certified accreditation in environmental management standards
ISO14001: and BS8901 and this has lead to a beneficial impact on
clients' projects both environmentally and financially. For live
events, the group has converted to LED lighting, using one-third of
the power of conventional stage lighting. The drpevents team has
also encouraged clients to scale down branding on stage sets,
signage and lanyards so that material can be reused across multiple
events before being recycled and the drpdigitalmedia team have
helped clients adopt paperless event communications through their
delx online event registration platforms.
drpgroup managing director Dale Parmenter commented on the
achievement of these two goals: "Our entire 30th anniversary
initiative was born of these two challenges, our 30 CSR projects
and our 30 environmental improvements. Completing this process has
been extremely rewarding for the entire team who have made a huge
difference to local and national charities, as well as our
community. We have also been lucky enough to demonstrate that
environmentally-conscious management not only benefits our planet,
but directly impacts on the bottom line of the projects we deliver
for our clients, saving money through intelligent resource
management and reduction in waste."
