Former England, Arsenal and Aston Villa footballer, Paul Merson,
will be the guest speaker at a charity Sporting Lunch, being held
at Drayton Manor Theme Park, near Tamworth, Staffordshire.
The theme park is calling on companies and businessmen and women
from the region to book their tickets for the event, in order to
raise money for Birmingham Children's Hospital, St Giles' Hospice
and Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Held in the park's Tower Suite on Monday 6th December, the lunch
will be hosted by BBC Radio WM's Jimmy Franks. Guests will be
further entertained by the comic wit of Ian 'Sludge'
Lees.
The highlight of the lunch will be the auction of sporting
memorabilia, proceeds of which will be donated to Birmingham
Children's Hospital and St Giles' Hospital. Guests will be
encouraged to place their bids on a number of fantastic items such
as signed football shirts donated by Aston Villa and Wolverhampton
Wanderers, as well as a Mini car for a weekend. In addition to
this, there will be a raffle to raise money for JDRF.
Lunch attendees will also be provided with a delicious
four-course lunch, followed by coffee.
Colin Bryan, Managing Director of Drayton Manor Theme Park,
said: "This popular event has previously raised over £100,000
for a variety of worthy causes. I hope that this year's event will
be even more successful as every penny raised is invaluable and
will go a long way towards helping others."
Individual tickets cost £57.50, while a table for 10 is
£550. Anyone interested in attending should contact the
park's hospitality team on hospitality@draytonmanor.co.uk or call
01825 252408.
