Corby's retailers have the chance to come together to promote
and strengthen their businesses and their local shopping areas.
A free event, 'Calling All Retailers' takes place on the evening
of Wednesday 10 November and is inspired by Mary Portas (Mary Queen
of Shops). It is designed to help local retailers make the
most of their business and gain a competitive edge.
Similar events recently held in Wellingborough and Rushden have
been hailed a resounding success by those retailers who attended,
and discovered ways to improve their marketing, increase sales and
raise awareness of what's available locally.
The independent retail sector faces a challenging time, working
in an environment where an ever increasing number of organisations,
both online and on the ground, are fighting for a share of the
retail pie.
'Calling All Retailers' wants to help local retailers to punch
above their weight to attract and retain customers to survive and
prosper. The initiative also hopes to encourage people to
support their local traders and to rediscover their local
shops.
The event will cover three main topics:
• 3 steps to increase your shops turnover
• How to get your staff to make the till ring
• How to get your shop to sell its products itself?
'Calling All Retailers' will be packed full of practical
examples and information, delivered in easy-to-understand,
bite-sized chunks that can be immediately implemented in the
business.
Stephen Smith, Chief Executive of EMB Ltd, the organisation that
provides local access to Business Link services says, "People value
a diverse high street that offers a unique shopping experience,
great customer service and retailers that have a depth of product
knowledge.
"It's great to see that these events are proving so popular and
that retailers are working together to encourage a vibrant shopping
experience. In turn, I would encourage the public to support
their local shops and rediscover the social and economic benefits
of shopping locally."
The FREE 'Calling All Retailers' event takes place on Wednesday
10 November and runs from 5.30-8.30pm at the Committee Room, Deene
House, Corby Borough Council - booking is essential.
Run by EMB Ltd and aqccessed through Business Link, the event is
supported by Corby Borough Council, North Northants Development
Company (NNDC), the Federation of Small Businesses and Land
Securities.
