A Nottingham IT support business has completed a major overhaul of technology systems at leading architectural practice Maber Associates.

Bear IT carried out the extensive refit of systems at the Maber sites in Nottingham, Leicester and Derby and will support the architect firm's plans for further improved customer service and efficiency.

The project, which took three months to implement, has enabled the company to improve data sharing and enhanced flexibility of resourcing across the practice.

The new IT system provides a high-speed, fully networked data storage and recovery system, all of which form an integral part of the practice's business continuity plan.

The unique installation required hi tech fibre optic cabling to achieve the connectivity.

Mark Lambert, MD of award-winning Bear IT, said: "This is one of our biggest projects to date and required us working closely with Maber to ensure we achieved the best solutions for the company.

"We worked connectivity between all three sites, allowing the company to improve communication and back up between offices. It was a major undertaking - and involved permission to dig up roads and co-ordinating new cabling in tenanted and listed buildings.

Nick Keightley, director at Maber Associates, said: "The new network and systems give the practice the improved functionality, capacity and flexibility we need to keep improving our service to clients. "

Bear IT, which won the PC Retail Awards in 2009, set up 2003 which now has more than 150 customers in the East Midlands. The company, which employs a team of ten specialist IT consultants, supplies, installs and supports IT infrastructure, for small and medium businesses all over the East Midlands and the UK.

"This project for Maber is part of its larger business continuity plan," said Mark. "Many companies don't think about business continuity planning until it's too late. Maber realised the importance of storing hundreds of thousands of vital documents safely and securely.

"We worked with Maber to look at the best solutions for them. We were able to identify what they needed as they grew as a company. This new system will allow them to increase workload and as they progress and develop, this system will grow with them."

Bear IT has grown to become one of the biggest IT support companies in Nottingham with clients including Nottingham Rugby Club, David James Estate Agents and head injury charity Headway.
