Lincolnshire businesses are being urged not to miss out on
valuable contract opportunities arising from the London 2012
Games.
Warehousing, electronic scoreboards, TV and video production and
even commemorative bricks are just some of the products and
services that are being sought by the games' organisers.
The London 2012 Games will be an unprecedented event for the UK
and one which will generate countless opportunities for businesses
all over the country.
It's estimated that contracts connected to London 2012 will be
worth around £6 billion, and Invest Lincolnshire is
encouraging firms to compete for contracts by registering on the
CompeteFor website which acts as a brokerage service between
potential suppliers and London 2012 buyers.
"Any business can register on the CompeteFor website to access
opportunities generated by the London 2012 Games," said Shelagh
Coates, Investment and Marketing Manager at Invest
Lincolnshire.
"Registration is easy and free and ensures that businesses are
automatically matched with contract opportunities that they can
apply for.
"The type of opportunities advertised on CompeteFor are not all
multi-million pound contracts and large-scale building projects.
Many of them are for items that you wouldn't even think about such
as men's ties, office plants, printed flags, hand driers,
translation services, taxi services, drama productions, temporary
fencing and waste management to name just a few.
"There are also plenty of opportunities for food businesses.
Fourteen million meals will be served at the Olympic and Paralympic
Games, and where better to source good local produce than
Lincolnshire?"
Sebastian Coe, Chair of the London Organising Committee of the
Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, said: "London 2012 is not just
about sporting talent and it is not just about London. Across the
UK there are thousands of incredible businesses that could stand to
benefit from the huge economic boost that will come from the
Games."
