CMR Consultants, a 15-year-old green energy business started by
a husband and wife from home in Studley has returned to its roots -
moving over 50 employees into the town's prestigious Studley Point
offices to occupy half of the building.
Founder and Managing Director, Dr Cedric Rodrigues was joined by
long-standing customer Halfords, of Redditch, to officially open
the new office and celebrate the company's investment in the local
economy and 'green' jobs.
Other national and local customers invited to the launch
included, Coca-Cola, Glaxo SmithKline, Arcadia Group, Mettis
Aerospace, W H Tildesley and Confederation of British Metalforming.
The open day included seminars on all aspects of energy
procurement, utility cost reduction strategies and efficient energy
management.
CMR has developed into an international consultancy business
advising industrial and commercial sector organisations on carbon
management, energy and water cost reductions and renewable energy.
It was acquired by the UK-based ENER-G plc in 2007 and remains a
key constituent of the ENER-G's Energy Management Division which
Cedric Rodrigues heads up as Divisional Director.
CMR and ENER-G Procurement has moved from smaller premises in
Redditch to Studley Point, while the remaining staff of ENER-G
Procurement and two other businesses within the Energy Management
Division are based at ENER-G's headquarters in Greater Manchester.
Now employing 110 people in total, the Energy Management Division
also has operations in Hungary with new offices opening shortly in
Holland, Poland, and Washington DC, USA.
Halfords has been a customer for eight years, with CMR helping
this leading automotive and leisure products retailer to achieve
impressive energy savings across its 469 stores. Since April 2009
ENER-G Procurement has secured a 20% saving on gas and electricity
bills.
Against the current recessionary trend, a total of 25 new staff
has been recruited to the Energy Management Division over the past
15 months. Turnover is on course to rise by 20% to over £10
million this financial year, with aggressive growth plans and
further international expansion in 2011 and 2012.
Dr Rodrigues, who previously served on the Government's Energy
Efficiency Best Practice Programme Committee, said: "Our new,
energy efficient offices provide double the space to accommodate
our rapidly growing team of energy professionals, and we expect to
create more new jobs in 2011. We believe that Studley's excellent
transport links, quality working environment and being part of an
international energy business will help us attract the best
employees to contribute to our ongoing success story.
