Excitement is building ahead of the 7th Lincolnshire Sausage
Festival. And organisers, who welcomed nearly 10,000 visitors
last year, are expecting this year's event to go off with a
real bang and pull in many more.
The event, which takes place on Saturday October 30, at Lincoln
Castle - spilling out into Castle Hill - is masterminded
by the Rotary Club of Lincoln Colonia, and backed by Tastes of
Lincolnshire and Lincoln BIG.
This year, the crowdpuller will be bursting with even more
fine flavours than usual, because 50 stallholders have already
booked their places.
Lincolnshire's own celebrity chef, Rachel Green will be doing
cookery demonstrations and there will be street entertainment
too - all for FREE!
And this year there will be another temptation to get people's
tastebuds tingling.
Festival founder Peter Harrold, and his business partner Gaye
Ilston , have created aspecial sauce and a relish to go with
Lincolnshire's distinctively different herb-filledsausages.
Mr Harrold said: "The sauce and relish -which differ in
consistency - are made using using Lincolnshire red onions,
exotic pomegranate molasses and other selected ingredients,
which combine to give them a piquant but sweet flavour."
The Lincolnshire Sauce Company-branded products will be on sale
on the Saucy Sausage Store stand at the event.
Lincoln BIG chief executive Matt Corrigan said: "We think
Lincolnshire is the true home of the sausage. In fact,
Lincolnshire is trying to get protected status for our
bangers. As soon as someone tries them they'll realise why we
think they are the best."
