A witches' brew of activities is being cooked up as the
Shugborough Estate gets ready to transform into the region's
spookiest, haunted house.
The estate is a hive of activity as gravestones, rats, creepy
crawlies, giant spiders' webs and headless bodies are moved around
the stately home in readiness for throngs of visitors this
Saturday.
The annual preparations for the massive Halloween spooktacular
take many months in the planning and an army of staff take three
whole days to decorate each of the mansion house and servants'
quarters' rooms with scary lighting and hair-raising props.
Even the gardens are having a makeover in time for the fun ghost
train which winds its way around the garden paths during the
evening as well as the spooky lantern-led ghost walks.
Hundreds of pumpkins create an autumnal scene while traditional
family entertainment takes place in the Midden Yard including
dipping spooky candles, trick or treating, face painting and apple
bobbing. There will also be family fairground rides.
