Shepherd Construction has appointed a new chief executive and
realigned its senior team as part of its continuing national growth
strategy.
Richard Vining, previously managing director of the South
Division, has replaced Allan McDougall as chief executive, who has
moved to a new role at the Shepherd Group's Head Office.
Phil Greer, formerly managing director of the East Division,
becomes executive director operations with responsibility for the
divisional managing directors, safety, health & environment and
business improvement. Together with Richard, he joins Gary Edwards
(business director), Sean Smylie (commercial director) and Mike
Porter (finance director) as the Executive Board Team.
They are supported by a new Senior Management team structure,
with Ian Cheung becoming managing director for the South, and Colin
Sargeant replacing Phil Greer as East Division managing director.
Peter Millett remains as West Division managing director. Darren
Shattock joins the business to lead the safety, health and
environment team.
Commenting on the announcement, Richard Vining said, "This
latest move continues our long-term strategy to further develop the
company and its position as a leading player in the industry. This
new structure will give us further cohesion and consistency
nationally, whilst we continue to deliver a first class service and
expertise at a local level. Allan McDougall has taken on a new role
with Shepherd Group and I would like to take this opportunity to
thank him for steering the company through a difficult time and
wish him every success with his new post."
Last year, as part of its strategy, the company, which has
offices in York, Darlington, Leeds, Manchester, Slough and St
Neots, opened two new offices in Birmingham and Liverpool and
further expansion is planned with the imminent opening of a new
London base.
Shepherd has recently announced £200m worth of major new
contracts, including the redevelopment of Liverpool Central
Library, a major laboratory development for the Institute of Animal
Health and two new student accommodation projects in
Manchester.
