About 2,000 schoolchildren have already made a date to
skate on Lincoln's famous Ice Rink this year!
It may only be October, and we've only had the merest hint of
frost, but schools countywide have rushed to snap-up special
deals to ensure their pupils have a great time in the run-up to
Christmas.
Ice Rink organiser Lincoln BIG wrote to all the county's
primary, secondary, independent and special schools, offering them
a range of packages, which included fantastic theatre and meal
deals.
And these offers are proving to be a real winner with teachers,
who have been quick off the mark to take advantage of
them.
Events co-ordinator Rachel Hanson said: "Our theatre and ice
skating package, which offered schools the chance to take a party
of children to see A Christmas Carol at Lincoln Theatre
Royal, followed by lunch and skating, at a discounted price, was
fully booked within a week.
"But there is still a chance for groups of all ages to book a
trip to see the Drill Hall pantomime, Dick Whittington, followed by
a skating at a discounted rate. They can also add a meal to the
package. But people need to book before the end of November."
Businesses are also being encouraged to use the rink as a way of
promoting their products or services or as a unique way of
entertaining their customers. For example, restaurants and
cafes could offer customers ice rink tickets when they book a meal.
Deals are in place to cater for this but there's only a couple of
weeks left to get involved.
