PwC has bolstered its Midlands practice by transferring Greg
Wilson, its Higher Education Assurance Lead, to the Midlands to
lead its Education Assurance team and to work with PwC's Education
experts to support Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) at a
difficult time.
Earlier this year, PwC published a report about the impact of
the global economic downturn on the Higher Education (HE) sector
and the state of public finances, entitled Weathering the storm.
This report indicates that uncertainty around future funding levels
and priorities is posing a significant risk to the HE sector.
Greg Wilson, PwC's higher education sector expert in the
Midlands, said:
"I am excited to have relocated to Birmingham to reinvigorate
our service offerings to the world class HEIs that are based in the
Midlands. The sector faces significant challenges in the coming
years as funding changes arising from the Browne Report and the
Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR) take effect at a time when
costs, and competition, both domestically and internationally, are
increasing.
"Locally we have the skills and experience to support HEIs
through these challenging times, helping to ensure they can
continue to produce highly-skilled graduates for local employers
and invest in worthwhile research activity, which is so crucial to
the region's future economic growth."
Richard Bacon, who leads PwC's Midlands Government and Public
Sector team, commented:
"Education is a key priority for us. Greg brings a strong
reputation and the leadership capacity to bring our skills and
experience to the sector at this critical time."
