A well-known building in the centre of Bridgnorth, which has
lain empty for several years, is to be given a new lease of life by
a local company.
The Old Police Station in Whitburn Street, used as the Citizen's
Advice Bureau for many years, has been bought by the
long-established firm of accountants, Stanton Ralph & Co.
The company currently has its offices in St Leonard's Close, but
after a six figure refurbishment plan, will move into the new
premises in Whitburn Street in summer of next year.
Local award-winning architect Vic Johnson has been commissioned
to come up with radical designs for the building to create an
eco-friendly and efficient working environment.
Phil Wood, a principal of Stanton Ralph & Co said: "This is
a very exciting and innovative project which is envisaged to take
six to nine months to complete.
"We are delighted to be able to expand our company, while
remaining in the town centre, to enable us to continue serving our
clients and local business needs."
Architect Vic Johnson added: "This redevelopment scheme will
feature the concept of natural ventilation, using a centralised
atrium, to provide daylight and fresh air throughout the
building.
"There will be a massive increase in the thermal performance,
thereby reducing running costs and bills, which of course is
wholeheartedly approved by the accountants!
"It is really rewarding to be able to work with local clients to
bring this old building up to date in both style and
efficiency."
Stanton Ralph employ a staff of 16 at The Old Grammar School in
St Leonard's Close and have been established in the town since
1974.
