A Leicestershire-based manufacturing business are celebrating
its 25th anniversary.
Abbey Extrusions, based in Ashby-de-la-Zouch was established
back in 1985, by Robert Allen and Bryan Cowan specialising in the
manufacturing of low-pressure plastic hose and tubing.
Since this time the business has gone from strength to strength
and now offers an extensive range of products to its UK and
International customer base which includes pharmaceutical, brewery,
food and drink, automotive, hydraulics, pneumatics, aerospace,
engineering industries and horticultural sectors.
In 2007, one of the founders - Robert Allen, sold his shares in
the company which were bought by three longstanding members of
staff; Doug Turner, Richard Millington and Martin Bird.
In 2008, the company was awarded the BS ISO 9001:2008
accreditation which recognises the quality of the products it
produces which are still manufactured in their own UK factory.
Commenting on the past quarter century, founder, Bryan Cowan
said: "The business has continued to develop over the years and we
have extended our product range to meet the changing needs of the
market. In what has become a fiercely competitive market we have
developed innovative solutions for a variety of our clients'
projects and provide a consultancy service for specialised
modifications or bespoke goods."
Since the business began, Abbey Extrusions have been a customer
of Barclays Sales Finance utilising their sales ledger services. To
mark the occasion, John Bevan, Head of Barclays Sales Finance,
presented Managing Director, Bryan Cowan with a commemorative
plaque and a bottle of champagne.
