National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has
taken on a new trainee quantity surveyor as part of its commitment
to providing opportunities for young people to develop a career in
the construction industry.
Nineteen year old Oliver Gibbs from Water Orton left Coleshill
School Sixth Form with A Levels in Economics, Business Studies and
Law and is now studying an HNC in Construction, which will be
followed by a Bsc in Construction Quantity Surveying, at Birmingham
City University.
"I have chosen quantity surveying as I believe this suits my
personal strengths well. I am extremely pleased to have been taken
on by Wakemans as I will gain valuable work experience whilst
gaining further qualifications," says Oliver.
"The sponsorship approach offered by Wakemans is fantastic as it
gives me the opportunity to learn and gain advice from my
colleagues, so that I can achieve my full potential."
Oliver follows in the footsteps of many surveyors who have
benefited from Wakemans' flexible approach to education and
training. He will have the opportunity to work with different
teams and experience a range of projects across all sectors.
In his spare time Oliver enjoys playing football, running,
playing cricket and tennis.
"We are delighted to welcome Oliver to the team," says
Wakemans director Adrian Aston.
"Wakemans remains committed to training and supporting the
development of the next generation of surveyors. It also
benefits us as a company as we have the opportunity to employ some
of the region's brightest talents."
