Michelin and JCB Power forward with tyre deal

Two of North Staffordshire's largest companies - Michelin and JCB - have joined forces as the tyre giant provides specialist tyres for JCB's latest range of vehicles.

JCB has chosen the Michelin Power CL tyre as original equipment on its latest 2CX, 3CX and 4CX backhoe loaders. The Power CL is a cross-ply agro-industrial tyre designed specifically for backhoe loaders, compact wheel loaders and telescopic handlers.

The tyre was selected following extensive development testing at JCB's world headquarters in Rocester in which the tyres were put through a series of severe tests to ensure they could cope with the rigours of life on and off the road.

With features such as a damage-resistant tread area, a robust, closely spaced central lug pattern to minimises punctures, and a rubber compound that reduces tearing in harsh conditions, the Michelin Power CL has proved ideal for JCB's latest generation of backhoe loaders. It adds to Michelins specialist tyre provision to JCB with the Michelin XMCL already the preferred OE radial option.

Peter Snelling, Michelin's UK Head of Communications said: "We are delighted to have joined forces with JCB to provide the Michelin Power CL tyres for their latest range of backhoe loaders.

"It's great to see our tyres being selected after successfully completing JCB's rigorous programme of testing. It's a great tribute to the durability and performance of our tyres and has presented us with a fantastic opportunity to work with another market leading company from the North Staffordshire region."

Another feature of the Power CL is the cross-ply casing which further enhances the tyre's resistance to punctures and impact damage due to the type and number of plies. The angle of the casing plies also ensures very high levels of sidewall rigidity which gives excellent vertical and lateral stability - essential for telescopic handlers working at full extension - and also provides excellent sidewall protection.

The five sizes to be fitted to the new 2CX, 3CX and 4CX are:

340/80 - 18  (12.5 - 18)

340/80 - 20  (12.5 - 20)

400/70 - 20  (16.0/70 - 20)

480/80 - 26  (18.4 - 26)

440/80 - 28  (16.9 - 28)

The Michelin Power CL is available in 11 sizes from 280/80 - 18 TL to 420/80 - 30 TL. Michelin Power CL is one of five tyre ranges that make up the Michelin Compact Line offer. The Compact Line tyres are designed for use in construction, agriculture, landscaping, public works, and roads.
