Staff and apprentices from the Stourbridge-based Western region
of Mansell construction visited a Redditch school for pupils with a
variety of learning difficulties to demonstrate a variety of
construction-related activities.
The education day was organised at Pitcheroak School, Redditch
and started with a "Meet the Builder" session where Mansell
apprentices talked about the tools they use and why helmets, safety
boots and high visibility vests are important items to wear on a
building site.
Youngsters took part in a project to design a safety poster
collage, and build a house out of boxes, paint and stickers. The
school also got a visit from Ivor Goodsite - the Considerate
Constructors scheme mascot, and were introduced to Ivor's web
site.
The day was organised by Mansell training manager Jeremy Lydiatt
who was supported by apprentices and trainees Jack Carey, Jake
Bate-Harris, Chris Bissell and Ben Shakespeare.
