Nottinghamshire businesswoman, Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE, has helped
raise over £220,000 for breast cancer awareness this
year.
Liz, CEO of Newark-based event and concert production company,
Liz Hobbs Group Ltd, is Chair of the Breast Cancer Campaign's
annual Pink Ribbon Ball committee.
In her fourth year as Chair, Liz played a key role in organising
the lavish Pink Ribbon Ball, which raised a total of
£222,456, at London's Dorchester Hotel on Saturday 9 October,
a staggering £60,000 more than the amount raised in 2009.
Hosted by Norman Pace and with Jeffery Archer setting the pace
with an exciting auction, the black tie event attracted a host of
celebrities, including the ball's patron, Martine McCutcheon,
EastEnders star Jessie Wallace, dancer, Camilla Dallerup and new
husband Kevin Sacre, and Spandau Ballet singer Tony Hadley.
"We set ourselves the daunting task of raising over
£200,000 this year and we completely smashed our target on
the night, so I'm absolutely delighted." Liz explained.
"It's a privilege to be involved with such a wonderful
committee, which always goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that
the Pink Ribbon Ball is a great success every year.
"Breast cancer is a disease which affects thousands of women and
their families in this country and, thanks to the generosity of
everyone who donated prizes and those who dug deep into their
pockets on the night, we raised far more than we expected for such
a vitally important cause."
"Liz's support was essential to the organisation of the Ball,"
added Liz Monks, Breast Cancer Campaign's Director of Fundraising
and Supporter Relations. "We really value her continued
involvement and would like to thank her for contributing to the
great success of the event."
This year marked the 16th anniversary of the Ball which has
raised almost £2 million for breast cancer research.
