A primary school in Lincoln has undergone an image overhaul as
part of its 50th anniversary celebrations.
Local companies Ruddocks and Allen Signs have worked with Fosse
Way School to create a new brand identity including a unique and
high impact logo along with modern and contemporary
signage.
Even the school uniform which used to be green and yellow has
been updated to match the new navy and white colour scheme .
David Allen, MD of Allen Signs explained: "The school wanted a
full facelift to help mark its 50th birthday and as Paul Banton
from Ruddocks and I both have family connections with the school
the collaboration between both companies and the school came
together very quickly.
"We provided the school with various signage options
incorporating the new logo and brand identity which had been
created by Ruddocks. This resulted in an extremely modern,
contemporary sign that helps the school stand out from others,
reflecting it's outstanding Ofsted report."
Ruddocks MD Paul Banton added: "The new logo has links to the
history of the school and the area, as we have retained the Roman
helmet design. It has been created with silhouettes of children
undertaking all kinds of academic, sporting, creative and fun
activities; things which we feel really sum up the school
ethos."
The school, which is celebrating it's 50th anniversary year,
received an 'Outstanding' Ofsted report when inspectors visited in
July.
Headteacher Nora Walkley said: "Updating our school logo was
something we'd been wanting to do for a long time but it had to be
just right if it was to work well on the uniform, signage and
stationery.
"It was when we were working alongside Ruddocks and Allen Signs
that the process started to come together and gave us a chance to
test out a range of ideas and be guided by their experience.
"We agreed on three options and as a whole school chose the
final design. We are all delighted with the result that reflects
links to Roman times while ensuring children remain at the centre
of everything we do. I know we'll be proud of our new image for
years to come."
Allen Signs has also worked alongside Ruddocks on the rebranding
of Manor Leas Junior School in Lincoln. Head teacher James
Greenwood was keen to improve the appearance of the schools
external features.
Allen Signs' Sales and Marketing Executive Glen Merryweather
explained: "Ruddocks were working on redesigning the schools
printed materials and took some photographs of the pupils in the
classrooms and playing in the school grounds as part of this
project.
"We developed this idea and took some new images which we
incorporated into the signage. We also used these images around the
school to improve the appearance of the buildings and create
a more friendly and welcoming environment."
