The achievements of eight outstanding individuals will be
recognised at Coventry University's annual awards ceremonies in
November at Coventry Cathedral.
All eight have made a significant contribution to their chosen
fields of expertise and have received recognition for the work they
do both nationally and internationally.
Details of the awards and when they are to be presented are as
follows:
Monday 22 November at 12.30pm
Mr Nick Fell - Honorary Doctor of Technology (DTech) in
recognition of his services to the UK motor industry with a
particular focus on his role in the acquisition of JLR by Tata and
his current interests in the development of electric vehicles.
Monday 22 November at 3.30pm
Mr Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen - Honorary Doctor of Business
Administration (DBA) in recognition of his invaluable work in
championing and developing the highly successful and expanding
strategic collaborative relationship between Coventry University
and the Vocational Training Council in Hong Kong, which he also
chairs.
And
Professor Sir Bruce Keogh - Honorary Doctor of Science
(DSc) in recognition of his services over many years to the NHS
both as a clinician and as an administrator, latterly as the NHS
Medical Director responsible for clinical strategy, quality, supply
chain and drugs management and distribution.
Tuesday 23 November at 1pm
Mr Vibert Cornwall (also known as Ray King) Honorary Doctor of
Letters (DLitt) - in recognition of his major contribution over
many years both to the music scene in Coventry and to his work in
the community as a driving force within the West Indian and black
ethnic communities in the city.
Thursday 25 November at 10am
Mr John Graham, OBE - Honorary Doctor of Business Administration
(DBA) - in recognition of his 22 years leading the Extra Care
Charitable Trust, based in Coventry, developing a national
reputation for the provision of accommodation, care and activity
for older people.
Thursday 25 November at 1pm
Sir David Phillips - Honorary Doctor of Law (LLD) - in
recognition of his major contribution to policing and criminal
intelligence in the UK culminating in his role as the Director of
the National Centre for Policing Excellence.
Friday 26 November at 11am
Mr Steven Hoggett - Honorary Doctor of Letters (DLitt) - in
recognition of his major contribution to the UK theatre scene and
to the work that he and his company have done in assisting the
development of theatre students Coventry.
Friday 26 November at 2.30pm
Dr Andrew Palmer - Honorary Doctor of Technology (DTech) - in
recognition of his major contribution to the automotive industry
both in the UK and overseas, and specifically his leading role in
the development of Nissan in recent years.
