Property agent heb has assisted in the temporary relocation of
the Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service while its current station in
Ascot Drive is demolished and rebuilt.
The service has taken a lease of 3,000 sq ft of office space at
Charlotte House on the Wyvern Business Park, Derby. The temporary
base has excellent access to the A52 and Derby's principal roads
and will provide an idea short term base for the service, says
Robert Maxey of Notts-based surveyors heb.
He said: "I searched the surrounding area for reasonably priced,
yet good, serviceable offices close to Ascot Drive and was very
happy with the offices at Charlotte House."
Trevor Raybould of Raybould and Sons advised the landlords on
the lease of Charlotte House.
Operational staff with appliances have moved to a unit on the
Osmaston Industrial Estate close to the new station, while the area
offices are situated in Charlotte House.
Trevor said: "The Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service is
another great occupier for the Wyvern Business Park. This deal is
one of many lettings recently agreed on the Wyvern Business Park
this year, and we have good enquiries from several companies also
wanting to move in."
heb has also acquired the new land for the fire service next to
the existing site in Ascot Drive which when combined, will provide
a larger more sophisticated base worth £3.5 million.
Jonathan Bishop, partner at heb said: "We are delighted to have
acquired the space next door to Ascot Drive to create larger
premises to accommodate Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service and its
needs. The new building promises to be something special - almost
twice the size of the existing building at 2,200 sq m, it is
expected to complete in 2011."
The station will have a specially built community room which
will be let out to partner agencies and community groups. This has
been very successful in other stations incorporating mother and
toddler groups and pensioners, making the fire station the centre
of the community.
Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service now has new stations in
Chesterfield, Nottingham Road in Derby, Ilkeston, and work is on
site at Ascot Drive. There is a new station planned also for
Buxton.
