A Shropshire firm whose software powers some of the UK's most
high profile web sites is creating new jobs as its core product
goes from strength to strength.
Genetics Ltd, based at Cleedownton, near Ludlow, is the creator
of the Contensis content management software used by many large
businesses and public sector bodies to organise and present their
information.
As it celebrates the launch the latest version of Contensis,
known as R6, the firm is looking to take on at least five new
software developers in the coming months, to add to its current
head count of more than 20 staff.
The new release of Contensis coincides with a new marketing
approach from the company which involves scrapping the technology
jargon relied on by so many in the software business.
Company founder and chief technical officer, Richard Chivers,
believes the approach fits perfectly with the business's products:
"We have developed software that can be installed in minutes and
which makes the management and presentation of information
completely intuitive with the minimum of practice and
training.
"Rather than trying to impress everyone with impenetrable jargon
we are just going to explain, simply, what it does in each scenario
you might want to use it."
It is this strength of refining complex programming and
databases down to easily managed processes for non-technical users
that has won Contensis customers including Fulham Football Club,
the London School of Economics, Henderson Global Investors, the
Goodwood Estate, Macmillan Cancer Support, a string of NHS trusts
and higher education institutions plus many other high profile
organisations.
The Contensis products can be used to manage website content,
internal document stores, intranets, extranets and search, with
modules developed to meet the needs of specific sectors, such as
the presentation of meeting minutes or planning applications for
councils.
It has also been developed to publish to any platform, removing
the need for customers to replace existing hosting providers or
systems.
"Without any marketing other than direct sales and
recommendation we have built a successful business, by being
utterly focused on what our customers need and extremely fleet of
foot in delivering their projects we have won the trust of major
clients," Richard explained.
"Our products are at a level now where we can go in to a
prospective client and beat the competition every time if we have a
proper opportunity to show exactly what we can do. This is what is
keeping the business growing and driving the demand for an
ever-increasing staff of skilled developers."
