Adventurous Todd Hallam, group health and safety manager at
construction firm Chalcroft, thrives on challenges and in March
2011 he is set for his biggest test of all - Mount Everest.
The 21-day expedition will take Todd to Base Camp Everest
travelling along the remote Khumbu Valley route originally taken by
Sir Edmund Hillary.
Todd will be climbing to an altitude of 5545 metres in aid of
the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children
(NSPCC), a charity whose vision is of a society where all children
are loved, valued and able to fulfil their potential.
Todd, from Solihull, commented: "I've always been into outdoor
activities and extreme sports - I've even been known to throw
myself out of plane or off a bridge in the name of a thrill - so
climbing Everest is the next big challenge for me.
"Being a New Zealander, like Sir Edmund Hillary, I have an
emotional connection to the climb, and since becoming a father 12
months ago, supporting the NSPCC was a no-brainer.
"Every day thousands of children need to talk to Childline about
a problem they face, while hundreds of caring adults call the NSPCC
Helpline, worried about a child's safety."
Pershore and Kings Lynn-based Chalcroft, who specialises in the
construction and refurbishment of warehousing and new builds, has
already pledged £1,000 to help Todd in his bid to raise
£5,000 for the NSPCC.
