E.ON’s employees in Nottingham help bag support for Cancer Research UK

E.ON employees have raised £9,000 for Cancer Research UK after filling hundreds of charity bags across the country.

By clearing out their closets and donating unwanted clothing, books, CDs and household items, the efforts of staff at E.ON's Nottingham offices have helped raise over £9,000 for Cancer Research UK, the company's charity of the year. This generous donation will be used to help support the charity's groundbreaking work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

Suzanne Doxey, Community Relations Manager at E.ON, said: "I'm delighted with the enthusiasm of our colleagues to get involved with the Donation Station week. The kind donations made by so many of our staff will go on to make a difference and help Cancer Research UK's work to beat cancer.

"The charity is close to the hearts of many of our employees and I hope our next event to wear pink in November, will be as much of a success."

Cancer Research UK was chosen by nearly 2,500 colleagues who earlier this year voted Cancer Research UK as their favourite charity. As Charity of the Year, Cancer Research UK provides a focus for the generosity that colleagues show in their fundraising efforts.

Claire Rowney, Head of Corporate Partnerships at Cancer Research UK, said: "E.ON's Donation Station week has been a huge success and we're delighted that everyone's fantastic donations have raised over £9,000.

"Cancer Research UK is entirely funded by the general public, and so without the generous support of individuals, and companies like E.ON, we would not be able to continue our vital work, helping to save more lives and achieve our vision to beat cancer."

E.ON will continue to work with Cancer Research UK throughout 2010 to provide a range of fundraising opportunities for colleagues to show their support.
