The drpgroup joined other award winners honoured at the eighth
annual IVCA Clarion Awards, held at the British Film Institute at
South Bank in London on 24 September.
The Awards recognise excellence in communicating the importance
of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), diversity,
sustainability, community development, ethical, health and welfare
issues in the public, charity, social enterprise and corporate
sectors. The drpgroup won three awards, including the Gold
prize for Live Events, the Gold prize for Experiential Campaign and
the prestigious IVCA Chairman's award for overall excellence in
CSR.
The three awards were for the group's 30th anniversary
initiative, the drpgroup Thirty 30s, rewarding its efforts to
complete thirty projects supporting local and national charities,
supporting the local community and reducing the environmental
impact of its activities during 2010. Among the series of live
events entered into the award scheme were the drptechnicalservices
team's completion of the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Macmillan
Cancer Support, the Easter Fun Day hosted by drpevents for the
Orchard Street Day Opportunities parents' group and the drpgroup
Believe programme which helped the long-term unemployed gain the
skills necessary to find employment in the communications
industry.
The drpgroup has strived to lead its industry in this field,
becoming the first Agency of its kind to receive certified
accreditation in both the ISO:14001 and BS8901 environmental
management standards. With other agencies still seeing these
commitments to the CSR agenda as procurement aides, the drpgroup
has used them to provide real benefits to clients in terms of both
sustainability and cost-effectiveness. Reductions in power
consumption, innovative car pooling transport logistics and
comprehensive material recycling programmes have driven down the
bills on client projects as well as benefiting the environment.
IVCA chief executive Marco Forgione commented: "This year's IVCA
Clarion Awards winners have once again demonstrated the high levels
of creativity, innovation and best practice in ethical and
inclusive communications, which are a true inspiration to all of us
in the visual communications industry. To qualify as a finalist is
excellent, to win is a tremendous achievement. Congratulations to
all of those who were shortlisted and of course many
congratulations to the drpgroup for their excellent and
much-deserved winning entries."
drpgroup managing director Dale Parmenter added: "The Thirty 30s
is a project to which the entire drpteam has been fully committed.
Although this programme has never been about the amount of awards
that it wins, hopefully picking up these IVCA Clarion awards,
recognising the benefit our programme has had to the local
community and the environment, will encourage other companies to
embark on similar initiatives and continue to drive CSR to the top
of the agenda in our industry."
