Derby law firm Flint Bishop is flying the flag for the East
Midlands after being shortlisted for the coveted title of regional
Law Firm of the Year at the British Legal Awards 2010.
The firm, which employs 170 staff at its offices in Derby and
Ashbourne, beat off fierce competition from legal practices across
the country to reach the final six at this year's awards.
The awards celebrate excellence in the legal profession and
recognise those law firms, teams and individuals who have performed
outstandingly, despite operating in the most challenging business
environment for a generation.
Now Flint Bishop will go head-to-head with some of the UK's most
highly regarded law firms, including Birketts, Boyes Turner, Loch
Associates Employment Lawyers, McGrigors and HBJ Gateley Wareing,
who have offices as far a field as London and Dubai. No other East
Midlands firm is represented in this category.
In order to win the coveted title of Regional Law Firm of the
Year, Flint Bishop will now need to demonstrate financial
performance, a clear business strategy and leadership within the
markets its targets; strategic expansion into new markets, along
with strong leadership, the ability to nurture talent and the
fostering of a cohesive culture.
The awards are being judged by a stellar panel of 15
professionals, including Bill Knight, former City of London Law
Society president and current deputy chairman of council at Lloyd's
of London, Philip Bramwell, group general counsel of BAE Systems
and Baroness Hayter, chair of the Legal Services Consumer
Panel.
The winners of the 26 national and international categories will
be revealed at a glittering awards ceremony, which is taking place
on 2 December at Old Billingsgate Market in London.
Commenting on reaching the final shortlist, managing partner Ken
Dixon, said:
"To beat so many other firms to make it on to the final
shortlist of just six is fantastic. Being short listed for the
title of Regional Law Firm of the Year is particular satisfying as
it reflects the commitment and hard work by all our staff across
the business."
This is the latest in a series of awards and accolades for Flint
Bishop. The firm was named the UK's fastest growing law firm by The
Lawyer magazine; it won 'Mould Breaking Firm of the Year' in the
European Practice Management Awards and scooped the 'Deal of the
Year award at the East Midlands Property Awards.
