A junior football team in Coventry will look even sharper for
the rest of the season after agreeing a sponsorship deal with a
city-based property agent.
Mount Nod under-10s have begun the 2010/11 campaign in promising
style with three wins in their first four matches and, according to
manager Karl Johns, they now 'look the part' too.
Coventry-based estate agent Shortland Horne - which has five
offices across the city - is sponsoring the team's kit and
tracksuits.
Johns said: "Support like this is absolutely massive for a team
like ours. It costs in the region of £3,500 to run a junior
football team for a season.
"We can cover a lot of that with match fees and internal
fundraising and sponsors.
"But for a business such as Shortland Horne to come in and help
us like that is just brilliant - there's nothing like a new kit
when you're a ten year old!"
Johns is part of the Mount Nod management team that is
developing the club and they hold a free community soccer school
every Saturday morning for around 125 children.
Laura Shortland, a director at Shortland Horne, said the company
was proud to help.
"We are big supporters of sport in Coventry," she said. "We are
sponsors at Coventry City and Coventry Blaze but we also believe in
helping out at grassroots level.
"Karl and the guys are doing a great job at Mount Nod and we
wanted to help out where we could.
"We spoke to Karl and he said the best way to support was to
sponsor the kit. It looks great and we are really happy to lend our
support in this way."
