School children from Huntingdon Primary and Nursery School in St
Ann's, Nottingham welcomed a very special visitor when Considerate
Constructors mascot, IVOR GOODSITE dropped in to announce the
winners of the William Davis and Tuntum Housing Association Safety
On-Site Poster competition, aimed to highlight the hazards of
playing on a construction site.
Aided by Dan Platten, Health & Safety Advisor with
Loughborough-based contractor and developer William Davis Ltd and
Richard Renwick MBE, chief executive, Tuntum Housing Association,
Ivor awarded gift vouchers to six youngster. The winning posters
will be enlarged and mounted on the hoardings of a £4m
partnership project between William Davis Ltd and Tuntum Housing
Association.
Dan said: "We are delighted to have Ivor touring with the
William Davis H & S team, visiting Nottinghamshire schools near
to where we have active construction sites. With his help and
through interactive, engaging education such as the poster
competition, we are reinforcing the vital message that playing on
or near to a building site is potentially life threatening - we
can't wait to see the winning posters adorning the site hoardings
at Balisier Place.
Richard Renwick MBE, chief executive, Tuntum Housing Association
said: "Working with Huntingdon Primary School in promoting issues
of safety on construction sites was an extremely positive
experience and has also helped us raise the profile for this new
housing development locally".
The £4 million project at Balisier Place has received
financial support from the Homes & Communities Agency and
Nottingham City Council. When complete in Spring 2011, the scheme
will provide 32 two bedroomed apartments to complement Balisier
Court, an existing sheltered scheme for over 55's.
