One of Burton-upon-Trent's biggest companies is giving a
deserving child the chance to be read a bedtime story by a popular
celebrity.
In an industry first Palletforce, the UK's leading palletised
distribution network, is launching its own children's book with the
help of Michaela Strachan who made a name for herself presenting
The Really Wild Show.
To launch the book, 'No Job Too Tall', Palletforce will be
attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most adults
reading to children under one roof.
It will take place inside the company's 400,000 sq ft Hub with
Michaela reading to a group of lucky children.
"We thought this was a great opportunity to find a deserving
child from the local community to be given a once-in-a-lifetime
experience," said Palletforce Chief Executive Michael Conroy.
"Michaela is such a popular face on television that it will be a
memorable moment for everyone who takes part and, hopefully, there
will be enough people there to break the world record."
Palletforce is looking for a deserving child (aged between five
and 10-years-old) to be part of the group of children who will have
No Job Too Tall read to them by Michaela in the very place where
the story is set.
It could be a child who has overcome adversity or someone who
helps out in the local community, but they will need to be
available for the event on November 13, between 6pm and
8.30pm.
Anyone can nominate by emailing suggestions to Kathryn Ryan at
kathryn@profilecommunication.com.
You can also apply for a place at the event by emailing
bigread@palletforce.com.
""I'm a huge supporter of encouraging young people to read for
wonderment, entertainment, excitement and fantasy," said
Michaela.
"I'm really excited about breaking a reading world record.
It's a really wild idea!"
Viewers will know Michaela from such programmes as BBC1's
Orangutan Diaries as well as Animal Rescue Squad and Michaela's Zoo
Babies on Five.
She will be reading 'No Job Too Tall' which took a year to
develop and features characters like Big Trousers, Woody Pallet and
Junior Truck who go about their work in the central Hub unaware of
the mischief being caused by some escapee zoo animals.
The book aims to engage the next generation in the future of
logistics and teach children about green issues connected with the
transport industry and how goods are transported around the country
before arriving in our homes.
As it is a bedtime story youngsters will be able to bring their
teddies and blankets, but will also be entertained by a
funfair.
"At Palletforce we pride ourselves on being leaders in
innovation within the industry and this is another way we are
pushing the boundaries," said Michael Conroy, who stars in the
story as The Big Cheese.
"It will be interesting to see the Hub filled with children
rather than trucks and even more interesting to see if they make as
much noise! Hopefully they will go away having enjoyed the event,
but also with an environmental message that is important to
Palletforce and everything that we do."
To nominate a child email their name, address and age - and the
name of the school they attend - to
kathryn@profilecommunication.com. Please explain why the child
deserves the special treat and include your contact details.
