Leicester-based sheet metal engineer Carlton Laser Services is
pressing ahead with its ambitious expansion plans with a timely
management buy-out, for an undisclosed sum.
The deal was led by part-owner and operations director Mohan
Jassi, who has been with the business for 15 years. He bought out
Carlton's majority-owner and managing director Dennis Kent. It
highlights the company's ambitious expansion plans, which closely
follow a £1.4 million investment in new plant and machinery
made during the past two years.
Roy Botterill, head of corporate at Midlands' law firm Harvey
Ingram, oversaw the MBO. He says: "Carlton Laser clearly dispels
the myth that manufacturing no longer exists in the UK. It's an
extremely efficient, competitive and well-run business that will
continue to be at the forefront of its industry. It also typifies
the sort of company that will help lead the country out of
recession. We're delighted to have delivered this deal on behalf of
Carlton Laser and be a part of its on-going success story."
Mike Ball and Keith Richards at RSM Tenon's Leicester office
also advised on the MBO.
