Gold Medal and certificate
Hobsons Brewery has been awarded a national award for its
innovative packaging of Twisted Spire a vibrant blond beer brewed
in Cleobury Mortimer.
The 'Gold Medal' was awarded by the British Bottlers Institute
(BBI), who held a special gala dinner at the Vintners Hall in
London attended by Nick Davis, owner and Tim Sant, Head of bottling
at the brewery.
BBI Judges commented "We were looking for outstanding shelf
appeal, which would apply to both on and off trade, also the whole
design of the bottle, labels and closure were scrutinized for top
quality design, print and graphics - Hobsons Twisted Spire graded
high in these areas to win the Gold medal".
Hobsons Brewery is widely known for their award winning Cask ale
winning the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain in 2007 for Hobsons
Mild, and is starting to add accolades to its trophy cabinet for
their range of bottle conditioned beers as the company continues to
expand its bottling arm of the business.
Launched in 2002 the range of Hobsons bottle-conditioned beers
has increased to five different flavours each with a unique
character and appeal, from a light blond beer of Twisted Spire to a
rich auburn ale of Old Henry. The range now has listings in OddBins
and Mid Counties Co-operative stores as well as a plethora of
quality delicatessens and farm shops.
The golden Twisted Spire is named after the twisted spire of St
Mary the Virgin Church in the market town of Cleobury Mortimer
where Hobsons is based, a competition was held at the 2008 Ludlow
Food Festival to name the new Hobsons beer.
Hobsons Nick Davis commented, "It's a privilege to have won this
award, we put strong emphasis on developing contemporary packaging
for our new lightweight bottles to appeal to a wider retail and
consumer market, its great to see our efforts have been so well
received both with this award and customers comments."
