Nottingham-based design and fit-out specialist, Paragon
Interiors Group Plc (Paragon), has bought the assets and has taken
over the contracts of troubled Ilkeston joinery manufacturer
Prestige Commercial Interiors for an undisclosed sum as part of a
group expansion. Previous owner Steve Watson has left the
business.
The new company, Paragon Bespoke Joinery Ltd, will safeguard the
existing workforce of 20, all of whom have been given new contracts
and with added investment, the business is expected to double in
size in the next 12 months. Six new jobs have already been created
with a further 12 expected during the first half of 2011.
Paragon Bespoke Joinery combines traditional and cutting-edge
joinery services, undertaking a wide range of work for commercial
and high-end domestic clients, managing the project from design
through to completion.
Recent projects include restoration of internal staircases and
mouldings at Winston Churchill's family home at Marble Arch, London
City, on behalf of English Heritage. The team is currently onsite
restoring internal timber features and new bespoke joinery at the
English Heritage-owned Barbican Building in London.
Chairman Alan Hardy said: "This is a fantastic business that has
massive potential with the right investment and the new management
team. We will continue to operate from the existing 20,000ft2
manufacturing facility in Ilkeston where the quality of the
specialist joinery work for the construction industry is among the
best available."
"This greatly adds to our penetration into the retail fit-out
sector, where an in-house joinery capability greatly adds to our
sales proposition."
