rg+p, one of the region's leading architectural practises has
announced that it is currently working on £22m worth of new
business, spanning 10 projects the length and breadth of
Leicestershire.
With work on site at seven locations in Leicester city centre
including Eastern Boulevard, Calais Hill, Ross Walk and Granby
Street plus three other new developments around the county in
Loughborough and Hugglescote, the practise is set to be busy over
the course of the next 12 months.
rg+p's current portfolio of projects include a £9.8m
affordable housing scheme at the Wolsey in Belgrave; 500 units of
student accommodation worth between £1.5m and £3m
dotted across the county; 700 private apartments totalling
£3.5m and a £4m major refurbishment project in the
heart of the city.
Bill Smedley, managing director, rg+p said: "We seem to be
'bucking the trend' in many ways, after a tough few years for both
rg+p and the construction industry as a whole. It is also
heartening to see that although there is a substantial amount of
regeneration earmarked for Leicester city centre, through various
government funding initiatives, private enterprise is also
re-investing in the city again now.
"We are building 150 apartments, despite industry experts
considering this type of accommodation not especially viable in the
current climate and have recently won a substantial contract to
refurbish Leicester's YMCA. It's great to see the diversity
of projects currently underway and fantastic to think that we are
really involved in changing the skyline of Leicester."
rg+p is based on New Walk in the city and specialises in
Architecture, Project Management and Quantity Surveying and
undertakes commissions throughout the UK.
