Solihull businesses looking for growth have a world of
opportunity in overseas markets and there has never been a better
time to trade internationally.
UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) has joined forces with Solihull
Council and Solihull Chamber of Commerce to stage an event to help
businesses explore the opportunities available through
international trade and find new overseas trading partners.
The event takes place on September 23 at Blythe Valley
Innovation Centre, Blythe Valley Park.
The seminar will include advice and support for both new and
existing exporters, information on overseas market opportunities,
and also a case study from local company StadiArena in Meriden,
which has successfully entered the export market.
StadiArena has developed a system of converting outdoor stadiums
into indoor arenas in a matter of minutes, by enclosing one end of
the venue. They were last year voted 'Exporter of the Year'
at the West Midlands International Trade Awards, after its efforts
to win overseas business. Among countries targeted by the company
are those in Asia, including India, with whom it has signed an
exclusive territory licence.
Councillor John Reeve, Cabinet Member for Community &
Economic Regeneration, commented: "StadiArena is a great example of
the strong business base in Solihull which has huge opportunities
for becoming more active in overseas markets and for increasing the
bottom line.
"This event is aimed at businesses from all sectors and
industries, whether they are looking to take their first steps into
exporting, or develop into new markets."
Jane Jackson, Director of Solihull Chamber, said: "Nearly all
businesses are global these days, with many of them receiving
enquiries from abroad via the internet.
"This event is designed to capitalise on that, by showing local
businesses how they can make the most of export markets and the
support available."
