The Conservative Party conference in Birmingham next week is an
opportunity for businesses to give the new government key messages
that will make a difference to the West Midlands.
Birmingham Chamber of Commerce Group chief executive Jerry
Blackett said: "The event will have significant impact on the
region's economy. At the 2008 Conservative conference in
Birmingham, the economic impact amounted to £15 million with
a media impact of £13 million.
City hotels will benefit from 100 per cent occupancy as over
2,000 media alone are accredited to attend the conference.
"We are expecting up to 14,000 delegates in the city which is a
key opportunity for us to showcase Birmingham to the world, as the
place to do business.
"There will be 500 fringe events, four of which Birmingham
Chamber Group will host. We will be exploring accelerated
development zones, local enterprise partnerships, spending cuts and
the economic outlook.
"The conference is a chance for all businesses in the city to
make a real impact on future policy."
