A charity ball sponsored by Stratford-based firm of chartered
accountants Murphy Salisbury has raised more than £8,000.
The Midsummer Ball fundraiser, which took place at Wroxall Abbey
in June, was organised by Valerie Rooke and Jill Focardi in memory
of Valerie's late husband, Alan. The event was in aid of Cure
Leukaemia, a registered charity set up in 2003 to develop a world
class specialist clinical haematology centre at Queen Elizabeth
Hospital Birmingham.
The evening included a three-course meal and entertainment from
London-based band The Jazz Dynamos, as well as a speech by
Professor Charles Craddock, a leading haematology consultant at the
hospital.
A total of £8,450 was raised on the night, with Valerie
and Jill being joined by Paul Salisbury, a consultant at Murphy
Salisbury, to present a cheque to Professor Craddock on August
17th.
Paul Salisbury said: "We are delighted to have been able to
support an event that raised so much money for such a worthy cause.
The night was a great success."
