A motorhome company on the Shropshire border has given one of
its homes a special paint-job after pledging support for a national
charity appeal.
Dave Ward, of Horizon Motorhomes, based on the Gledrid
Industrial Estate at Chirk, is supporting the Istanbul to Leeds
charity challenge which will see dozens of cyclists travelling
2,500 miles from Istanbul to Leeds to raise money for the Jane
Tomlinson Appeal.
One of the Horizon Motor-homes will be used throughout the
challenge and before it was handed over the Horizon team had all of
the 12 countries the cyclists will travel through emblazoned on its
side.
The Jane Tomlinson Appeal was set up by Jane herself to help
children's and cancer charities across Yorkshire, the UK and the
globe.
Before her death in 2007 Jane CBE raised £1.85million
through a series of incredible physical challenges.
Mike Tomlinson and his three children, Suzanne, Rebecca and
Steven, now have set their sights on a £5 million target.
With the generous help of Jane Tomlinson Appeal supporters, the
£3 million raised to date is already being put to good use by
those in need.
Istanbul to Leeds - www.istanbultoleeds.co.uk On July 25th, Mike
and Rebecca Tomlinson set off on the Jane Tomlinson Appeal's latest
challenge on July 25.
Together with a team of fellow cyclists they have taken on the
2,500 mile bike ride from Istanbul to Leeds.
The Tomlinson family were joined by family and friends who will
also take on the challenge of travelling through 12 countries over
five weeks.
Mr Ward said: "We have hired them a van for six weeks and we
helped them organise all of their border crossings and decorated
the van for them.
"We are extremely pleased to be supporting an event like this
and wish all of the cyclists the best of luck on their mighty
challenge.
"We hope the van will provide such much-needed comfort for tired
legs at the end of a day of cycling."
