Orchid IT, the Midlands' leading supplier of IT support and
services, has secured a multi million pound contract with
healthcare giant General Healthcare Group (GHG), the UK's largest
independent provider of private healthcare.
Under the new agreement, Orchid IT, which employs 50 staff at
its offices in Derby and Nottingham, will be the exclusive supplier
of server, network, desktop, laptop and printer hardware to GHG,
and will also provide data cabling, disposal and engineering
services, as well as a new hardware maintenance contract.
GHG's main subsidiary is BMI Healthcare, the UK's largest
private hospital group, with 70 plus hospitals and healthcare
facilities across the country. It is also a major shareholder in
CARE Fertility, the largest independent provider of fertility
services in the UK.
Orchid beat off the challenge from some of the biggest names in
the IT world to land the three year contract, which followed a
lengthy and challenging tender process.
This is one of the latest in a string of high profile contract
wins for Orchid, which was founded in 1996. These include
Derbyshire County Cricket Club, Crich Tramway Village, Ward
Recycling, Greenbank Terotech, and Whitehouse Construction.
In addition, the company recently scooped the title of IT
Support Company of the Year at this year's MicroScope ACES Awards,
which are widely acknowledged as the pinnacle of the IT
industry.
Commenting on the deal with GHG, Orchid IT Enterprise Partner
Manager Paul Hayes, said:
"Although we have had the privilege of working with GHG
previously, we are delighted to know that they were impressed
enough with our service to commit to an additional three years with
Orchid.
"Over the years, Orchid has established a track record in the
healthcare sector and our aim going forward is to strengthen our
hold on this sector and continue to broaden our client base to
ensure that we remain the first choice for IT support and
services," added Paul.
GHG IT director Dan Morgan added: "Having already worked
with Orchid for three years, I was happy to extend our relationship
for another three years and to significantly broaden the scope.
Their combination of price and service is exactly what I'm
looking for in a key partner."
