collect money for the relief efforts in Pakistan
Notts-based Domestic & General and their staff have donated
£2,000 for the Pakistan flooding appeal.
Employees at D&G have been so moved by the recent floods in
Pakistan that they have clubbed together to raise much needed funds
for the country, which has seen the worst flooding in its recorded
history.
For two of the contact centre's workers, Sarfraz Zaman and
Sahima Arif it has been a particularly worrying time as both have
family and friends living there. Fortunately they have not been
affected by the floods, but after watching the devastating scenes
on TV they were compelled to help.
Sarfraz and Sahima, as well as many other employees, approached
the contact centre management team, to ask if they could organise a
dress down day with funds raised going to the Disasters Emergency
Committees (DEC) appeal. Sarfraz said: "We were so moved and
shocked by the awful scenes in Pakistan we felt we absolutely had
to help. We are thrilled with how the rest of the team got involved
and donated for the appeal.
"D&G as a company has also donated money so we have raised
£2,000 in total - we hope this will go some way to helping
those in most need."
Deborah Martin, site operations manager said: "Everyone at
D&G wanted to do something to help the people of Pakistan. This
was intensified by Sarfraz and Sahima and the personal meaning it
had for them, as well as many other of our employees. We are
pleased to have raised money for a very worthy cause indeed."
More than 1,500 people have been killed and hundreds of
thousands stranded by flooding triggered by the annual monsoon
rains in Pakistan.
