Nottingham Business School is set to expand its Chartered
Institute of Professional Development (CIPD) offering across the
globe following successful HR masterclasses in the Czech Republic
and Russia, run in conjunction with PricewaterhouseCoopers
(PwC).
The CIPD accredited classes were co-hosted by Nottingham
Business School, part of Nottingham Trent University, for up to 25
HR managers at a time from various multi-national companies,
including McKinsey & Co, 3M, HSBC and Coca Cola.
Nottingham Business School was approached by PwC to run the
first masterclass, in Prague, due to its international reputation
for previous work with Azeri HR managers at BP Azerbaijan. The
success of this led to a second masterclass recently being held in
Moscow and a third is planned in Abu Dhabi later this year.
A long term strategic alliance is now planned and the heads of
PwC's Business Academies in Prague and Moscow recently visited
Nottingham Business School to discuss the outline of the
partnership. Plans include expanding the delivery of the Nottingham
Business School / PwC two-year CIPD Postgraduate Diploma in
Personnel Development, which is now already underway in Prague, the
Middle East and Russia.
Dave Doughty, principal lecturer in Human Resource Management
and one of the lead academics on the project, said: "The initial
Prague class was an opportunity to test the market for any future
CIPD programmes and the feedback was so encouraging that we've
already started delivering the full CIPD programme. These
programmes are very important to the workforce in these countries
because it reduces a company's reliance on expatriates and instead
gives local HR managers the chance to gain industry
qualifications.
"We already deliver research and educational programmes across
Central and Eastern Europe and the prospects for developing the
relationship with PwC are very promising. PwC are one of the
world's leading professional consultancy organisations, active in
over 20 countries and working with many blue-chip organisations to
develop and improve the skills of the local workforce."
Jonathan Appleton, PwC Business Academy leader, said:
"PricewaterhouseCoopers are very pleased to be working with
Nottingham Business School to bring this strategic, high level
qualification for human resources professionals in the region. Our
strategy through PwC Business Academy is to bring the highest
levels of quality professional qualifications to the marketplace in
Central and Eastern Europe.
"Nottingham Business School has a tried and tested track record
in this region and we have been delighted to launch our first joint
Postgraduate/CIPD programme in Prague this year with excellent
reviews from the delegates and the marketplace. We look forward to
a constructive partnership with this leading UK business school
that will enable us to build substantially on business and HR
education opportunities in this fast developing region."
